NORTRAIL is a privately owned Norwegian company established in 1967, employing 50 people.

NORTRAIL has over the years made considerable investments in the forwarding and logistc industry. Companies wholly or partially owned by the NORTRAIL – Group employ today some 200 people.

NORTRAIL is the Norwegian partner in Nordic Chain, working through a well established agency network in all major European countries.

Nortrail’s Head Office is situated centrally at Alnabru in Oslo and coordinates all shipments ? both export and import.

For shipments which are to be transported to a destination within Norway we use the company Norgesfrakt AS. We are part-owners of this company together with three other forwarding agents. It is a great advantage to be able to handle the shipments ourselves, all the way from the suppliers abroad to the recipient in Norway.

At Alnabru we have our own terminal, Spedlog, with a customs warehouse and facilities for long- and short term storage. From this location the goods can be easily distributed quickly and efficiently throughout Oslo and outlying areas. Customs clearance is quick, safe and effective thanks to the Norwegian Customs Authority’s system TVINN, enabling us to guarantee that the goods are available to the consignee as soon as possible. Interestingly enough, Nortrail was the first forwarding company in Norway to start using TVINN for customs clearance.

In Kiel, Puttgarden and Rostock we are also represented by separate local branches, Nortrail Transport GmBH. These companies deal with customs clearance of goods coming from and heading to the Continent ? and not only for Nortrail in Oslo, but also for our colleagues.

From our Head Office we send our customers’ distribution specifications using EDI to guarantee speedy and efficient processing. Our domestic partner, – Norgesfrakt – collects goods daily which are to be delivered within this long country of ours.

We do not only provide transport, storage and distribution, but can also perform other logistics services on request such as, relabelling of goods, repacking, stock control and direct invoicing of the final user, to relieve the customers’ own stockcontrol department.
