According to the Norway Post, British firm Amerada Hess Ltd has awarded a contract worth nearly NOK 240 million to the Stavanger-based drilling company Smedvig for exploratory drilling for oil in the North Sea. Work isn’t due to start until April or May of next year for a period of four months. The drilling will take place on the Shetland Islands. “West Navion” drilling vessel will be used for the drilling of two deep-water wells reaching 1200 metres and an option of drilling a third well.
