MOSCOW, January 28 (Itar-Tass) — Russia and Norway will cooperate in the development of the shelf of the northern seas. Russian Energy Minister Igor Yusufov expressed the confidence that the investment and technological potentials of Norwegian companies will be required by Russia. He said this during his meeting with Norwegian Minister of Oil and Energy Einar Steensaes on Wednesday.
The Russian minister called on Norwegian companies to step up contacts for the participation in pipeline construction. For instance, Norwegian companies show special interest in the Murmansk oil pipeline, Tass was told at the Russian Energy Ministry.
During the talks the sides discussed the situation in the European gas market. The ministers expressed the consensus that gas exporter countries should in time adapt to the new conditions of trade in fuel that would the European Union will advance. It was said it is important to coordinate the efforts of major oil exporters, among them Russia and Norway, to maintain stability in the world fuel markets.
