In connection with the 110 years anniversary of Øveraasen AS the company invited all employees with companion for a cruise from Oslo to Kiel and back to Oslo.
The anniversary-cruise took place from December 7th to the 9th. Almost 140 people travelled from Oslo on Friday afternoon, and on Saturday morning we met our colleagues from Øveraasen Germany in Kiel. After visiting the Christmas Market, which was great, the ship left Kiel at 14:00 with nearly 200 Øveraasen guests on board.
The people from Øveraasen Germany were also given the possibility to visit the mother company in Gjøvik before they flew back to Germany Saturday evening.
The trip on board the Color Fantasy went smooth with no strong wind and calm waters both on the voyage to Kiel and back to Oslo.
Enjoying fantastic lunch-buffets, the show Friday night, the anniversary banquet and the fantastic Christmas table we were all able to relax and had a really good time together.
During the afternoon both Friday and Saturday the whole group met in the Conference Centre, both for some fun and also for the speech of Thor Øveraasen, telling about the company from the start in 1908 up until now and the challenges for the years to come.
Three employees were called on to be honoured: Kjell Arne Olsen for 30 years of employment at Øveraasen AS, he was presented the Medal for long and faithful service from the Royal Norwegian Society for development – Herman Elverum was presented the golden watch for 25 years of employment at Øveraasen AS, and Peter Wehrle from Øveraasen Germany was celebrating his 71st birthday
On behalf of all the employees, Mette Gaarder and Rune Torke, made a speech expressing their thanks to the management and the Øveraasen Family. They also handed over a beautiful lithography made by a famous Norwegian painter. The subject of the lithography was taken from Spitsbergen, and showed dramatic winter landscape. The title of the painting was “You are well looked after”.
A milestone in the long history of Øveraasen was celebrated in a proper way and will stay in our minds as a good memory for the future.
