The cheese slicer was invented by the Norwegian furniture maker Thor Bjørklund in Lillehammer, Norway. He was granted a patent for the slicer on February 27, 1925.

This simple but unique product was immediately greeted with delight by Norwegian households because of its ability to cut nice, thin slivers of cheese.

Soon, the cheese slicer became popular in Scandinavia and Northern Europe, and today is used in a great number of countries around the world.

Similar to other products that have existed for many years, the cheese slicer has been periodically redesigned to accommodate new trends up to the present day.

Now, 80 years after its invention, Thor Bjørklund & Sønner have started to manufacture the original slicer again, based on drawings and sketches from 1925. The slicer – known as the Original 1925 – is produced in stainless steel, and has excellent cheese cutting properties.

The Original 1925 cheese slicer is available in two different packages:

a) In a “souvenir” version named “The history book” with Norwegian and English text
b) In a decorative gift box
