Solstad Offshore wins Environmental Award

The Annual Offshore Support Journal Conference is the international meeting point for all those involved in offshore support. The conference attracted more than 400 senior industry executives and delegates including 60 shipowner and 35 shipyard representatives.

CEO Lars Peder Solstad, says it is an honour for Solstad Offshore to receive this award, and sees it as a confirmation that the environmental efforts of the company have been recognized as an important contribution to the offshore industry,

-The Solstad Green Operations have been a great success, and have given us the possibility to introduce the first Climate Neutral Operations (CNO) of vessels in the offshore industry, says Solstad.

He also confirms that the company is continously looking for ways to improve and develop its environmental programme. This work is coordinated by the company’s Environmental Engineer, Svein Erik Isaksen, who co-operates closely with all vessels and employees. The Solstad Green Operations (SGO) is an environmental programme developed by Solstad Offshore to monitor all environmental initiatives resulting in reduced fuel consumption of at least 500 liters. For every green operation recorded in the system, Solstad Offshore pays for the protection of 1000 m2 of rainforest trhough the Norwegian Rainforest Foundation. The company has recorded about 1700 green operations so far in 2012.
