Norway’s processing industries: Transforming the world

Oil and gas, fish and wood products – Norway’s exports span the range of all the natural resources the country has to offer. In 2006, for example, roughly NOK 509 billion worth of petroleum was pumped from the chilly depths of the North Sea – or more than 15 times the value of the nearly 700,000 tonnes of salmon that were shipped to ports across the globe. At the same time, approximately NOK 32 billion of wood and paper products was processed for sale in Norway and abroad.
