From 1 May 2004 onwards there will be 25 member states in EU. 10 extra countries will get the status of member state. This change will have some major implications for VAT and Customs, and thus how businesses must operate in these countries.

• Operating from Europe (EU) there will be no more export to countries such as Poland, The Czech Republic, Hungary, Slovenia, Malta etc. but there will be intra-community supplies. There will no longer be any imports from from Slovakia, Cyprus, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia etc, but intra-community acquisitions instead.
• What about goods under inward or outward processing relief?
• Do you need a fiscal representative?
• Where is the place of supply of electricity and gas?
