Consilium Safety launches the innovative MPS sensor

Hydrogen – ready gas detection, without measuring drift

The MPS sensor for flammable gas detection is now available on the industrial market. With a long lifetime of 5+ years and immunity to sensor poisoning and drift – it is an incredibly reliable choice for hydrogen gas detection. It also accurately measures up to a whopping 14 flammable gases simultaneously! For reference: Competing sensors can only measure one gas at a time accurately. All of this leads to a safer and more efficient work environment than ever before, with fewer unwanted alarms and less risk of production stops due to maintenance.

One issue that most other hydrogen-ready sensors have is that they are susceptible to contamination from toxins and other contaminants. That leads to measurements drifting and sometimes complete failure due to sensor poisoning. The most common way this happens is poisoning by silicone, used in sealants, adhesives, and protective coatings in buildings all over the world. Age is also a factor for some sensors as they get “consumed” and start drifting over time.

When sensors break down, they must be replaced. When they drift, you must compensate for faulty measurements. In both cases, you run the risk of decreased safety, forced production stops, and having to bear the cost of maintenance and material. Fortunately, none of these issues affect the MPS.

Another common issue, solved by the MPS, is lackluster LEL readings (lower explosive limit) when measuring multiple flammable gases. Traditional sensors get calibrated for one gas at a time, which can make incidental measurements of other gases highly misleading. The MPS, however, is constructed to read gas on a molecular level, making it easy to measure multiple gases with great precision. Because of that, the MPS requires fewer check-ups, is safer, and requires less maintenance than its competitors.

Summary of the main benefits of the MPS

  • Detects hydrogen
  • Does not drift (less maintenance)
  • No sensor poisoning
  • Long life (5+ years)
  • Automatic multi-gas (14 gasses) accuracy in real time
  • True LEL measurement
