Microsoft has appointed the Norwegian virus fighter Norman as one of its central collaboration partners to fight computer virus.
Norman is one of the ten leading antivirus producers which has been invited to enter into the exclusive Microsoft network «Virus Information Alliance» (VIA). The VIA program was established last summer, and the goal is to give the users of Microsoft programs access to updated and relevant information about new virus threats emerging.
Norman has been in the business of fighting virus for many years and is one of the leading producers of computer based workstations, OEMs and server based anti virus solutions.
According to Steinar Wigtil, director of research and development at Norman, the company is very pleased to be selected as one of Microsofts partners among the other leading suppliers of anti virus solutions, and the company wants to contribute to the initiative with its knowledge of computer security.
Microsoft has earlier selected Norman Virus Control as one of several tools to test its programs before it is sent to the stores. The test are conducted to identify possible security holes and to prevent the spreading of virus and worms through Microsofts products.
