Simek AS was established in 1967 in Flekkefjord on the southern coast of Norway. The company builds a variety of vessels, specializing in tailor-made tonnage, and also carries out conversions and repairs. Simek has delivered some 100 ships of up to 90 m in size to customers worldwide.

Types of Vessels
Approximately half of the ships delivered by Simek have been fishing vessels, which have become increasingly sophisticated over the years. During the last several years, more and more customers have requested the construction of offshore and other specialized vessels such as powerful tugs, anchor-handling vessels, ice breakers, car ferries and research vessels.

Up-to-date Facilities
Simek is a total supplier, with the necessary workforce to cover an entire vessel, from the keel to the top of the mast. The company has a modern, well-equipped shipyard that features a 96-m x 20-m heated construction hall with a crane capacity of 270 tonnes for assembly of newbuildings. The yard also contains state-of-the-art machining and piping workshops, as well as a carpentry shop for complete outfitting of ships, including specialized wooden shipboard furnishings.

Collaboration
Simek cooperates closely with customers, subcontractors and consultants for all projects. The company builds its ships in sections either at its own yard or at those of its subcontractors. Simeks highly-qualified staff of engineers uses state-of-the-art 3D drawing programs, and develops designs and technical solutions in collaboration with customers, classification societies and technical consultants.
