Centa Transmissions AS specializes in the design of elastic couplings and drive shafts for mechanically powered marine transmissions. Centa delivers complete tailor-made designs and products as well as a wide variety of services. The company is represented on the global maritime market through a worldwide network.
Composite shafts between the engine and gearbox of the Blohm & Voss-built Olympic Voyager transmit 4 x 9,450 kW at 500 rpm. |
Transmission Products?
Centa products are used to connect diesel engines to an integral gearbox in main propulsion and auxiliary drives. They can also be used to connect gearbox outputs to water jets, propeller shafts, PTO drives and other systems.
Centadisc Drive Shafts
Centax two-row coupling between the engine and gearbox of the main propulsion drive of Rovde Shipping?s Ocean Challenger (a UT746C cable laying vessel built by S?viknes Yard) transmits 2 x 5,300 kW. |
Centas specialities are long, lightweight Centadisc carbon-fibre composite shafts for use where low weight and long spans between bearings are required.
Centax couplings are installed on all the vessels shown here |
Centax Elastic Couplings
Centa also delivers Centax highly elastic couplings, which are designed to control torsional vibration and compensate relative movement.
Wide Range of Services
Centa offers the following services for its
Centadisc carbon-fibre composite shaft. |
products:
Dimensioning
Torsional vibration/whirling analysis
Installation supervision
Commissioning assistance
Composite shafts between the engine and gearbox and gearbox and waterjet of the Fjellstrand-built Solidor 5 catamaran transmit 2 x 7,200 kW at 1,050 rpm with 620 rpm waterjet speed. |
