Just one year after winning Toyota’s supplier award for achievement in quality, Hydro has been awarded a similar prize for cost management.
Again, the appraisal was dedicated to Hydro’s structural components plant in Raufoss, Norway, as one of five suppliers singled out from a field of some 300 contenders.
The Raufoss plant currently supplies almost 300,000 bumper beams annually for the Toyota Avensis and Corolla.
“The cost savings were based on our continuous improvement activities,” says Karsten Flensborg, Hydro’s Key Customer Manager for Toyota.
“The achievement is a real tribute to the entire team involved in our Toyota activity at Raufoss, from the extrusion process through to the final computer numerical control (CNC) machining of the parts, and all of its associated support functions.”
Hydro is supplying more than eight million bumper beams per year to numerous renowned car manufacturers und ranks among the leading automotive partners with crash management systems, engine blocks and cylinder heads and precision tubing as for heat exchangers. Including deliveries of foundry alloys and semis, Hydro totals an annual turnover of EUR 2 billion with the automotive industry.
