The European fisheries industry lacks primary products for processing, and has therefore asked the EU Commission to remove import duty from Norwegian fish.

This means that the EU fisheries industry supports Norway’s demand for duty free export of fish, in the difficult negotiations for a new agreement with the EU for the European Economic Area (EEA).

-The Association of European Fisheries Industry wants to remove the import duty, because the industry lacks raw materials, and must in future buy more fish from countries outside the EU, says the organization’s Vice President, Matthias Keller.

Norway’s ambassador to the EU, Bjoern T.Grydeland, says that Norway now has allies within the EU who are working for giving Norway a best possible solution to the EEA negotiations with the EU
