The Ementor Group declared in April 2008 that we will increase focus on corporate responsibility and take an even more active role to promote and support implementation of Green IT concepts in own organisations and customers’ organisations. The Ementor Group goes further and introduces new market leading areas within Green IT and environmental awareness.
The Ementor Group introduces internal environmental CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) and implements ISO14001 Environmental Management System in the whole Group. To ensure focus and environmental responsibility the Ementor Group will implement Climate Reports for the Group and for the Group companies Ementor, Atea, Sonex and Topnordic. The goal for the Ementor Group is to go CO2 neutral in 2009.
The Ementor Group goes even further and introduces today the leading Green IT concept GOitGREEN for all customers and companies in the Nordic and Baltic region. GOitGREEN is the total Green IT concept to ensure correct focus and inspiration within all IT related areas in private and public companies. www.goitgreen.com.
Bent Herlevsen, Vice President IT at the medico company Ambu A/S says: “The GOitGREEN concept gives us the perfect tool for understanding and ensuring correct focus within environmental issues and new green IT areas in our organisation. We focus on lower CO2 emissions and with the GOitGREEN concept we are able to reach our goals quickly and in the right order, including cost savings through lower energy consumption.”
In the market there are a lot of different definitions of Green IT, basically based on Datacenter and Electronic Recycle. The Ementor Group defines Green IT as the optimal IT infrastructure for a company, including choice of IT product/solution, value added services and recycling. Green IT is handling IT in the most environmentally correct way and to ensure ongoing focus. The Ementor Group is taking the lead within Green IT and will take an active role in promoting and supporting the implementation of Green IT concepts in our customers’ organisations.
Claus Hougesen, CEO and President Ementor ASA, says: “We believe that taking a corporate responsibility and increasing the environmental awareness are highly important for the global climate and our own company as well as our customers and supply chain. The Ementor Group is the leading IT supplier in the Nordic and Baltic areas, and through that we have a corporate responsibility for the environmental impact of our own IT infrastructure as well as that of our more than 40.000 customers.”
By thinking green, companies are able to make an important difference for the climate situation. And at the same time save costs! Energy cost is expected to be the second highest IT operating cost in 2009, but will increase even further with the growing demand for more IT equipment. Savings between 25% and 50% is possible with small changes in IT policies.
Claus Johansen, Director Ementor ASA, and responsible for the Group’s Green IT program says: “We shall take an active role to promote and support implementation of Green IT concepts in own and customers’ organisations. We do this due to our environmental awareness, but also because we know that we are able to inspire and help our customers achieve lower CO2 emissions, lower energy use and cost savings.”
