DNV GL has revised its class rules for single stern tube bearing installations and introduced two new class notations, “Shaft align(1)” and “Shaft align(2)”, to help customers better manage the risk of stern tube bearing failure. The new class notations can be assigned to both newbuilds and vessels in service in conjunction with propeller shaft withdrawal.

ADIPEC – Abu Dhabi, UAE. The most used and recognized offshore pipeline standard in the world has been updated to reflect the latest pipeline research and developments by DNV GL, the quality assurance and risk management company, and other leading industry players. The standard, previously called DNV-OS-F101 is now renamed DNVGL-ST-F101. Around 65% of all new projects globally are designed according to the standard, first issued in 1976.

The Netherlands signed the Halden Agreement on December 1st and will formally become the 20th member country in the Halden Reactor Project (HRP) after the formal acceptance from the Halden Board during their Paris meeting on December 9th, and after the approval of the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

A team of eight reactor experts from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has for one week undergone the safety of the JEEP II research reactor at Kjeller. The expert group concludes that IFE strongly emphasizes safety and security work in its operations.
