Energy costs in New Zealand have risen substantially in recent years, and Norske Skog is accordingly playing an active role in developing the country’s future electricity supplies.

For the second, consecutive year, Aker Kvaerner subsidiary, Kvaerner do Brasil, has been recognised by the Brazilian Pulp and Paper Technical Association (ABTCP) for the calibre of its supplier capabilities.

Aker Kvaerner has received an order from a confidential client for delivery of a new fiberline, an upgraded cooking plant and a modernised white liquor plant for a pulp mill in Japan. The contract is worth approximately USD 70 million to Aker Kvaerner.

Aker Kvaerner has been awarded a contract for the supply of a recovery boiler, to modernise the chemical recovery plant at UPM’s Kymi pulp mill in Kuusankoski, south eastern Finland.

Aker Kvaerner and Metso have signed the Final Sale and Purchase Agreement for Metso to acquire Aker Kvaerner’s Pulping and Power business.

Aker Kvaerner has received an order for delivery of a continuous cooking plant to a pulp and paper mill in Indonesia. The contract is worth approximately USD 10 million.

The Aker Kvaerner subsidiary Kvaerner do Brasil has been awarded a prize as the ‘Preferred Supplier of machines and equipment for pulp production in 2005’ from ABTCP (Brazilian Pulp and Paper Technical Association). 13 Dec 05

The German retailer Aldi Süd, which has approximately 1,650 stores in Germany, has chosen TOMRA as its main supplier of reverse vending machine systems for non-refillable beverage containers.

The Hebei newsprint mill in China was officially opened today. The mill is owned by PanAsia, which will be wholly owned by Norske Skog by year end.
