Marketing Norway to the world for more than 50 years

ICTInformation & Communication Technology
Norwegians seem to be at our best when nature is either on our side or very much against us. We harvest the fish, oil and natural gas resources that nature has given us, and are pretty good at it. When nature is against us we build bridges, tunnels and telecommunications.

Norwegians are among the most technologically sophisticated people in the world and demand excellence and innovation. This has resulted in a highly educated and skilled ICT sector that delivers top of the line products and services to the whole world.

Internet access in all parts of the country is necessary for existing business activity as well as for new knowledge-based enterprises in our provinces. Over 99.8% of the population has now access to broadband services. And, by the way, we are less than 5 million inhabitants in a territory larger than Italy.

ICT technological expertise runs deep in Norway and is well-rooted in the educational system, research organizations, and the business sector. This know-how has an effect far beyond the nation´s borders. Numerous international ICT projects involving Norwegian expertise lead to an increasing volume of innovative ICT-related products and services being exported from Norway.

It this issue we present you with a brief overview of the most important ICT organizations as well as a series of articles to give you a more in-depth understanding of Norway’s present focus and activities. In the second half of the magazine you will find cutting-edge Norwegian companies within ICT that provide their products or services on the global market.
