Who deserves the Research Council awards for 2012?

Nominations for the Research Council awards are now being accepted from the research and innovation community; they may be submitted by individuals or by institutions.

The Award for Outstanding Research (Møbius Prize)

The award comprises a cash prize of NOK 1 million and the Møbius statuette by sculptor Aase Texmon Rygh. It rewards excellence in research achieved The Møbius statuette, by sculptor Aase Texmon Rygh. The Møbius statuette, by sculptor Aase Texmon Rygh. nationally as well as internationally, and may be conferred within any subject field and discipline, including interdisciplinary research cooperation. The award is intended to encourage further research activity.

The nominations must be thoroughly explained and well documented, and submitted to the Research Council in hard copy by post at the latest by 22 June 2012. For a link to the award statutes (in Norwegian), see the column to the right.

The Award for Excellence in Communication of Science

This award comprises a cash prize of NOK 250 000 and is presented to a researcher who has demonstrated exceptionally creative, engaging dissemination of the results of his or her own research.

The award is intended to encourage communication of research results to the general public, and may be conferred for all types of dissemination through any media.

The nominations must be thoroughly explained and well documented, and submitted to the Research Council in hard copy by post at the latest by 22 June 2012. For a link to the award statutes (in Norwegian), see the column to the right.

The Innovation Award

The Research Council’s Innovation Award carries a cash prize of NOK 500 000 and is presented to an organisation that has demonstrated an outstanding ability to apply research results in a manner that generates research-based innovation. To be eligible, candidates must have had support from one or more of the Research Council’s user-driven innovation programmes. The award may be conferred to businesses or public-sector organisations.

Presentation of the awards

The awards will be presented at the Research Council's Evening of Excellence, to be held at the Oslo Concert Hall on 19 September 2012.
