Unions seek shorter week

The Norwegian Confederation of Trade Unions (LO) will press for the introduction of a 35-hour working week and for a lowering of the retirement age to 60. According to Dagens Næringsliv, the labour organisation will press its demands as early as the 2002 round of national wage negotiations. The proposals appear to fly in the face of concerns that employers will soon face a major labour shortage.
