The Research Council of Norway received a total of 747 grant applications for the 12 February deadline. Interest in the new Programme for Research and Innovation in the Educational Sector (FINNUT) surpassed all expectations, with an impressive 159 grant applications received.

The number of grant applications submitted under the Strategic Projects – University Colleges funding (SHP) scheme and the Centres for Research-based Innovation (SFI) scheme was in line with expectations, with 55 and 57 applications, respectively.
The Research Council issued funding announcements for NOK 514 million in this funding round, plus an additional NOK 160 million to be allocated annually to new SFI centres over an eight-year period.
