Transatlantic Science Week between Norway and North America

The most important arena for cooperation between Norway and North America in research, higher education and innovation is held in Houston, Texas between 12 to 16 November.

Transatlantic Science Week is being held for the eleventh time, and is an important meeting place for politicians, scientists, managers and others who are pursuing higher education, research and innovation in the U.S., Canada and Norway. This year’s "science week" will break a record with over 500 participants including 200 from Norway. Science Week will be hosted at Rice University and MD Anderson Cancer Center. 

-Science Week is a key arena for academic cooperation between Norway and North America. Research plays a crucial role in understanding and solving global challenges facing the world. Therefore, this year’s focus on health and energy is especially important. I hope this year’s Science Week will lead to the establishment of new networks and new ideas that can take root, says Norwegian Education Minister Kristin Halvorsen.

”Bridging Partnerships”

The title of this year’s event is "Bridging Partnerships", referring to the overarching goal of encouraging scientific cooperation between Norway and the U.S. and Canada on research, technology, innovation and higher education.

The Minister will give the opening speech during the Science Week on Tuesday. She will also meet Dr. Subras Suresh, Director of the National Science Foundation and visit several universities and research institutions in the USA.

The organizers of Science Week is the Norwegian Consulate General in Houston, the Norwegian Embassy in Washington DC, in close cooperation with the Ministry of Health and Care Services, Trade and Industry Ministry, Ministry of Petroleum and Energy, Rice University and MD Anderson Cancer Center.
