>> World Nuclear News, 21 June 2013Thorium test begins

IFE has extensive experience in testing nuclear fuels for many different clients, and mainly uranium fuels have been tested. Now, thorium fuel is being tested. And for the first time IFE is testing fuel for a Norwegian client; the company Thor Energy. That makes the project even more exciting, and so far everything has worked out as planned. The Halden Research Reactor allows for continuous data collection while the fuels operate in simulated LWR conditions. Promising results related to temperature measurements have already been acquired, and these will support computer modeling efforts and further studies.
