The Third Annual Norwegian Seafood Dinner in Shanghai

Excellent seafood delivered alive from Norway was one of the highlights as the Royal Norwegian Consulate General in Shanghai and Norwegian Business Association (NBA) co hosted the Third Annual Norwegian Seafood Dinner.

The annual seafood dinner provides an excellent opportunity for Norwegian companies in Shanghai to invite their staff and clients, Norwegians as well as Chinese, to enjoy an exciting buffet of Norwegian seafood. Norway is one of the largest exporters of seafood, exporting to more than 150 nations worldwide. Every day 127 million meals of Norwegian seafood are eaten around the world.

At the seafood dinner on November 16th, 330 guests were treated to a spectacular variety of Norwegian seafood prepared by the renowned Norwegian Chef Mr. Øyvind Næsheim together with a team of professionals from the JW Marriott Shanghai Tomorrow Square. Mr. Næsheim is currently working as the Executive Chef at the Beijing branch of the famous Japanese restaurant NOBU. During the seafood dinner he even held a cooking show on stage featuring a live Norwegian king crab. Still alive after its flight from Norway to China, the king crab served as a most popular newcomer to this year’s abundant seafood buffet.

Upon entering the ballroom decorated in a theme from Lofoten, the guests at the Norwegian seafood dinner were welcomed by Consul Mrs. Elin Gjedrem and the Chairman of NBA Mr. Geir Sviggum. Two rounds of lucky draw served as the highlights of the evening, together with the entertainment by violinist Zhang Yang. Currently in his junior year at the Department of Orchestral Instruments as well as the concertmaster of Symphony Orchestra of Shanghai Conservatory of Music, Zhang Yang is already an internationally acclaimed violinist.

For those who have not had enough of Norwegian seafood yet, you still have the opportunity to experience it. Starting on November 18th, JW Marriott Shanghai Tomorrow Square is hosting a six week promotion of Norwegian seafood in cooperation with the Norwegian Seafood Export Council (EFF)
