The Norwegian RD&D CCS programme (CLIMIT)

The focus of the CLIMIT programme is on technology related to carbon capture and storage (CCS). The programme is administered jointly by the Research Council and Gassnova, and is targeted towards research, development and demonstration of CCS technology.

The objective of the programme is to accelerate the commercialisation of CCS by providing financial support for research, development and demonstration.

This includes activities addressing:

  • CO2 capture before, during or after power production, and CO2 capture from industrial processes;
  • Compression of CO2;
  • Transport of CO2;
  • Long-term storage of CO2 and other areas of application.

The programme provides funding for activities within all phases of development and commercialisation of new solutions.
