The Norwegian network of United Nations Global Compact launched today

Lise Kingo, CEO and Executive Director of the UNGC, will participate at the launch event, along with 60 of the Norwegian companies signatory to the initiative.
Oslo, 15 October 2018: Elkem ASA is a proud signatory to the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC) and has taken part in the preparations for the establishment of the Norwegian network.

The UN Global Compact Nettverk Norge will be a network of all the Norwegian companies signatory to the UN-led corporate network. UN Global Compact is the world’s largest corporate sustainability initiative with more than 10 000 signatory companies.

“Businesses are an essential part when it comes to meeting the Sustainable Development Goals. Elkem warmly welcomes this initiative to improve the local dialogue, so we can learn from each other. Our future competitiveness will be determined by our climate and environment adaptation. That is our commitment. We have global reach, like many other Norwegian companies, and together we can make a difference, both locally and internationally”, says CEO Helge Aasen.

The Global Compact Nordic network was one of the very first networks to be established after UNGC was set up almost 20 years ago. Now, time has come to establish national networks in all the Nordic countries. The Norwegian network will be launched at an event in Oslo on 15 October, hosted by Confederation of Norwegian Enterprise (NHO).
