The Governor require electronic application and reporting through RiS

Research in Svalbard (RiS) is a database for registration of all scientific projects in Svalbard. All relevant information about research, monitoring and educational projects is registered in the database. The database is an important tool for coordination and collaboration between scientists conducting research in Svalbard. It is also an essential tool for finding information on field related activities.

The RIS Portal has the opportunity to submit standardized applications and reports to the Governor. And from 1 January 2015 the Governor will accept only applications and reports submitted electronically through the RiS Portal.
