The conflict is over

"It is a responsable choice made by the gouvernement tonight," says Mr Jan Hodneland, chief negotiator, OLF.

 

After three long meetings at the National mediator without finding a solution to the conflict, the situation was completely deadlocked. The strike lasted for 16 days and caused costs for 3,1 billion NOK both for the companies involved and for the Norwegian society.

Minister of Labour, Ms Hanne Bjurstrøm invited the parties to her office at 23.30, thirty minutes before the lockout was a fact. She declared the conflict as over and that there will be compulsary arbitration to define the new pay agreement.

- We are now relieved that we do not have to shut down the production on the Norwegian continental shelf, however, we were ready to initiate a lockout if the gouvernment did not intervene, says Mr Hodneland.
