Teacher Density and Student Achievement (LÆREEFFEKT)

The Storting (Norwegian Parliament) has allocated funding for more teachers for the youngest pupils. Some of this funding will go to research on the impact of increasing the number of teachers in grades 1–4 in primary school.

The objective of the initiative is to generate knowledge about the effects of increased teacher density in lower primary school (grades 1–4, ages 6–10). The initiative will provide new insight into the effects on pupils’ learning and learning environment of different forms of applying more teaching staff in the schools. The initiative will also shed light on how more teaching staff may have an impact on pupils’ learning outcomes and learning environment.
