Strike at Baker Hughes Norway

- Unfortunately mediations did not succeed. 114 workers on 12 different installations are striking from Sunday morning, says Håvard Hauan, lawyer in OLF.

Friday and Saturday this week, there has been mediation regarding collective agreement for SAFE in Baker Hughes. The parties (OLF/SAFE) did not reach an agreement and therefore the SAFE members at Baker Hughes are now striking.

The Company, Baker Hughes, is an Oil Service company and member of OLF. The OSA agreement nr. 357 is valid in the company.

Background
Effective February 1 2012 a merger was completed between Baker Hughes Norway AS, BJ Services AS and BJ Process & Pipeline Services AS. The same day, employees of the two latter companies transferred to Baker Hughes Norway AS. SAFE has 114 members in the company.

SAFE has made a claim for a collective agreement in Baker Hughes Norway AS. OLF made SAFE aware that the claim must be made against OLF and then with reference to the NHO's statutes. A request for negotiations for a collective agreement was then made by SAFE to OLF 15.03.12.

OLF already have an collective agreement for oil service
OLF would be happy to create a collective agreement with SAFE organising the oil service workers. However, OLF already have a collective agreement with Industri Energi and thousands of workers from different oil service companies.

- The new collective agreement with SAFE could under no circumstances be more lucrative than the existing agreement with the other union, Industri Energi, we are surprised that the union did not understand that, says Håvard Hauan.
