StormGeo awarded Export Prize 2016

StormGeo was awarded the Export Prize 2016 for their innovation and success within weather forecast services.

In total, 80 companies were nominated for the prize. Out of these, 10 companies were shortlisted.

EXPORTER OF THE YEAR

This year's winner, the weather forecast specialist StormGeo, has been a major exporter of weather services for several years. This was the third  year they were nominated for the Export Prize. From their start in 1997, they have moved from being a small media company to be a leading provider of  assistance in desisions related to operations under critical weather conditions. Today, 80 % of their turnover comes from export and their largest export market is the US. 

- This is a great approval of the work our employees do, and it is a treat to finally win after having being nominated 3 years in a row, Hege Kveen and Svein Kåre Giskegjerde in StormGeo states. 

 

MARINE PROPULSION

Brunvoll AS also ended in the top three of all nominated companies. The company is one of the world's leading manufacturers of thruster systems. They design, manufacture, market and service complete thruster systems for manoeuvring, positioning and propulsion of advanced vessles. The company from the west of Norway had a turnover of 765 mill NOK in 2015 and the largest export market is South Korea. 

 

PRIZE FOR INNOVATION AND SUCCESS

Export Credit Norway and the Norwegian Export Credit Guarantee Agency (GIEK) and GIEK Credit Insurance award the Export Prize annualy to the company that has shown innovation, success over time and successfully created values in Norway through business in global markets. Last years' winner was the seeafood exporter Hallvard Lerøy AS.

The 80 cmopanies nominated to this year's prize operate within various sectors such as fisheries, IT and electronics, maraitime sector, oil and offshore and industry.
