Statoil to reassess Gudrun Discovery

According to the Oil and Gas Journal, drilling and exploration has started in the Norwegian North Sea on Statoil’s Gudrun Discovery. The Gudrun Discovery began when two wells were drilled in 1975 and 1979 but left underdeveloped because of its “complicated” high pressure, high temperature reservoir. “The purpose is to prove sufficient amounts of oil, gas and condensate to develop the Gudrun find”, said Lars Jan Jaarvik, Statoil’s exploration manager for the Troll/Sleipner area. Statoil is expected to complete the drilling project at the beginning of August.
