Software Innovation launches new app for technical document management

Software Innovation’s newly launched app, ProArc Mobile, is designed for companies that want to make technical document management available for employees on the go. The software company is helping engineers and other professionals to become more productive, by giving them remote access to documents and technical drawings from their iPad and iPhone.

ProArc Mobile is the new app being launched by Software Innovation this week. The new mobile client for ProArc gives employees remote access to important functionality for document control and an easy way to read and comment on technical documents from their iPhone or iPad.

“Engineers may need to access technical documentation from their iPad when inspecting a construction project, or employees in meetings may need to bring up meeting documents on their iPhone,” says Anders Johnsen, Director of ProArc at Software Innovation. “With a direct link to the complete ProArc application for technical document control, the mobile app will always be synchronized to the latest version of documents, technical drawings and other files.”

Eliminating bottlenecks
ProArc Mobile will help companies eliminate bottlenecks. Employees who are travelling or working in the field can complete document control tasks securely and efficiently from afar, without holding up the company’s productivity.

Studies by AiiM*, the Global Community of Information Professionals, show that 45% of organizations believe they could increase productivity by 33% or more by giving employees remote access to back-office processes from mobile units. 45% of the organizations surveyed estimate that response times can be three times faster if employees can access applications from mobile units. Response time is a key component in improving workforce productivity and service levels for customers, suppliers and partners.

Getting rid of complex functionality
Software Innovation’s aim is to make it as simple as possible to complete tasks relating to technical document management. They have removed all superfluous and complex functionality, making the mobile app intuitive and welcoming for the user.

“The new app contains the core functionality of ProArc, while allowing employees to do more than simply read documents. They can comment on content, create new files and upload images from their iPad or iPhone,” says Johnsen. “All activities are synchronized in ProArc. If the user doesn’t have internet access, they can upload documents in advance to make them available offline. It doesn’t get any easier.

“A large number of our customers work outside traditional offices and need to quality assure documents from other locations. With this knowledge and feedback from the market, we expect the ProArc app to be used from locations such as factory workshops, construction sites and offshore platforms.”
