The contract with Cheoy Lee Shipyards was signed in Q2 2018. Servogear will provide complete propulsion systems for two new 23 meter wind farm support vessels that will be operated by Njord Offshore in the North Sea.

 - We are focused on offering our clients the best offshore transfer performance together with excellent fuel efficiency on our vessels. For this size of vessel, Servogear’s Ecoflow Propulsor was the clear choice and we’re looking forward to working with Servogear to deliver a reliable service to our clients, says Tom Mehew, Managing Director of Njord Offshore.

 - We are proud to be selected as a supplier and see this as a vote of confidence from Njord Offshore and Cheoy Lee Shipyards. The Asian market is very interesting for us, and with these two crew transfer vessels Servogear strengthens its position as a leading supplier of propulsion systems for workboats worldwide, CEO of Servogear, Torleif Stokke states.

UK based Njord Offshore specializes in crew transfers to offshore wind farms, with well-trained personnel and well-maintained boats. From 2013 and throughout 2017 Njord Offshore carried out approximately 300.000 crew transfers on various sites in the North Sea and the Irish Sea.

 - We are happy to see that the market for wind service vessels are growing again. The demand for fast moving, energy efficient vessels with maximum manoeuvrability is gaining momentum and creates a range of opportunities for Servogear Ecoflow Propulsor around the world, Stokke explains.

Servogear’s delivery to the windfarm vessels comprises of HD295U gearbox’, 1225 mm controllable pitch propellers, design of propeller tunnel, effect rudders, shaft brackets and a tailor made control system developed in co-operation with Brunvoll Mar-El.

The control system ensures optimum interaction between the propulsion system and the engine. A wind-turbine landing mode will allow safe and efficient transfer of goods and personnel, without overloading the engines.
