Powel to accelerate growth through purchase of Taxber

Through its Swedish subsidiary, Powel Energy Management today announced that it has purchased Taxber AB, an IT consulting firm based in Östersund, Sweden, specializing in customized systems for electricity and district heating companies.

The purchase includes Taxber’s customer base which Powel will support by hiring new staff, including five new positions planned in the next year.

“With this acquisition, we are strengthening our product offering and providing our customers a complete solution that covers the entire process from meter to cash,” says Mats Ekelund, CEO of Powel Energy Management.

For some time, Powel has shown interest in Taxber AB to complement its own product portfolio of Customer Information Systems. Today the purchase is a reality. Until now, customers have used different systems to manage the process from meter readings to billing the customer. Going forward, all systems that support this process from meter to cash can be delivered and supported directly from Powel.

“The acquisition of Taxber will allow us to support utilities we have not worked with previously and our existing customers will benefit from a lower overall cost as a direct result of managing the entire value chain. Taxber has developed a unique and fully customized system for electricity and district heating suppliers. We will continue to develop these systems to become more process-oriented using work flows to increase efficiency and improve customer service, "says Mats Ekelund.

There are major changes happening in the energy sector and more will follow in the district heating sector as a result of increasing regulation. This will place even greater demands on IT systems in the future, explained the founders of Taxber. As part of the purchase the founders will be involved in the business for three years to facilitate and support Powel’s acquisition and daily operations of the Taxber product suite. The Taxber acquisition also includes system and support responsibility for its fifteen customers using Taxber solutions today.

‘Taxber is a small organization and now is the time to merge with a company that has more expertise and power to develop our solutions further and support our customers." says Per-Erik Magnusson, a founder of Taxber.
