Plus House Wins Architects' International Sustainability Award

Multi-Comfort House in Larvik won the international prestige award WAN Sustainable Buildings 2015. "The house is warm and inviting, while it meets all requirements of sustainable material and energy use," writes the jury.

BD Plus HouseOptimera and Brødrene Dahl are the builders behind Plus House. The house is designed with Snøhetta architects, the research Zero Emission Buildings (ZEB) at SINTEF and NTNU.

COMFORT AND SUSTAINABILITY

The combination of living comfort, sustainable solutions and good architectural design was decisive for the jury.

"With Multi-Comfort house we wanted to draw attention to technical building solutions for greater comfort and protecting the environment, while solutions gives low energy costs and the Norwegian tradition is designed with extensive use of wood as a building material. We show future building standard with technology and products that are fully available today, "is Optimera and Brødrene Dahl's joint statement.

PLUS-HOUSE BUILDING

Multi-Comfort house is a so-called Plus-House building. It supplies itself with energy and can additionally supply excess energy for charging the electric vehicle or mains. Brødrene Dahl and Optimera use the house as a center of excellence for artisans and entrepreneurs. The aim is that the industry should be able to offer environmentally-friendly buildings and renovation projects where also light, noise reduction and indoor air quality is in focus.

WAN Awards is the world's largest architecture assessment. In its seventh year participating in 1379 projects being considered by 317 international judges. The prize is awarded in some 20 categories where sustainable buildings (WAN Sustainable Buildings) is one of these. The award goes to construction projects that are sustainable without compromising good design.
