Oslo Maritime Forum and Oslo Offshore Forum joining forces

At an extraordinary board meeting for Oslo Maritime Forum this week, the organization voted to join forces with Oslo Offshore Forum.

The two parties signed an intention agreement stating that they will continue the planning and preparation for the merger of the two organisations, which will not take place until the annual meeting for Oslo Maritime Forum end of April next year.

There are many advantages to such a collaboration.

  • The offshore and maritime industries are moving towards each other and establishing strong ties early on will be vital to stay ahead of the curb.
  • The ambitions of OMF and OOF are high, but resources are limited. By combining their efforts they can do more for their members and offer a better service.
  • The two organisations share a number of members who cover both sectors.
  • The focus will be on developing a strong cluster that can promote both industries and create jobs for the future.

OMF and OOF will be promoting the OCEAN concept by promoting how different sectors who work on or with the ocean can pull together and utilize both resources and knowledge better.

It is though that the two organisations are better off working together than competing, especially when it comes to events and conferences in the Oslo area. One of the first major project for the collaboration will be OCEAN Talent Camp next summer in connection to Nor-Shipping.
