ONS Innovation Awards to Fishbones and Schlumberger

“Being an alternative to hydraulic fracturing, the environmental gains can be considerable”, the jury stated.

97 entries from 79 different companies of all sizes competed for the award. The jury narrowed it down to five entries in each category and announced the two winners today at ONS.

Fisbones AS received the SME Innovation Award for its completion method for making large numbers of laterals simultaneously out of one wellbore. The innovation was described as having great potential for value creation.

Schlumberger was awarded the Innovation Award for their GeoSphere. This is a way of reservoir mapping while drilling. The service enables subsurface teams to get a picture of the reservoir, bringing new abilities to understand formation geometry, reservoir quality and oil water contacts.
