Official opening of Kitron Electronics Manufacturing in Ningbo, China

Today the 26 September 2011 the grand opening of Kitron Electronics Manufacturing in Ningbo, China is taking place. More than hundred people from customers and other business partners are attending the opening ceremony at the factory.

Kitron's site in China specialises in the entire value chain around the manufacturing and assembly of electronics products. The market segments include Medical equipment, Industry, Energy, Offshore/Marine and Telecoms.

Kitron's set-up in Ningbo is based on a strategy to offer electronics manufacturing services (EMS) to existing and new customers in the Asian markets and to provide competitive manufacturing services to Kitron's operations in Norway, Sweden, Lithuania and Germany.

Kitron's goal is to offer services to produce high complexity products in China by combining modern manufacturing facilities, skilled employees with high-tech knowledge, and access to an already-established component supplier network.

Kitron believes that the basic foundation to success lies in their employees. Measures have been taken to ensure employee competency by focusing on management and employee training. Skilled personnel employed in the production, technical engineering, supply chain and other functions have electronics manufacturing background from China or have been brought in from other Kitron sites in Europe. They are all taking part in the coaching and training of new employees.

"Management training in low volume/high complexity manufacturing is a constant task. It is quite different to manufacture 10 different complex products a day compared to having the same product through the SMT line each day, as is most common in China today. The employees have to be trained to think differently and understand the importance of being innovative and creative, take ownership, challenge the status quo and suggest improvements. It is crucial to be able to combine the Nordic culture (innovation/creativity) with the Chinese (speed and customer service)," says Kitron's General Manager in China, Yvonne Wenzel.
