Norwegians called techno-pioneers

For years to come, Norwegians, Swedes, Finns and the Japanese will probably remain the most technologically savvy mobile telephone users in the world, according to the Arthur Anderson consulting firm.

Market penetration among those nationalities is so high that telecom developers will continue to use them as "guinea pigs" to try out new generations of technology as well as new mobile services, such as advertising that reflects the tastes of individual users and their current location. Next month, Norwegian authorities plan to award four licenses to create a national network for the Universal Mobile Telecommunications Standard (UMTS), which will dramatically enhance Internet accessibility for people on the go.
