Norwegian seafood exports soaring

The exports of Norwegian seafood rose by 25 % to NOK 5.9 billion last month. 

The numbers show an increase by NOK 1.2 billion over January last year.

One of the main reasons for the rise is the continued high price of farmed salmon. Norway is the largest producer of this type of fish in Europe.

China also ordered more frozen cod than before from Norway, said Egil Ove Sundheim, director of market information at the Norwegian Seafood Council.
