Norwegian productivity at top level

Norwegian labour productivty is 46 per cent higher than the average among EU nations, and also higher than in the United States, according to figures from the European agency Eurostat.

Only Luxembourg ranks ahead of Norway, according to Eurostat.

In the US, labour productivity is 42 per cent higher than in the EU.

Industry minister Trond Giske believes that high technology and advanced production methods could explain the high rating.

- In this way we utilise the labour force very efficiently, something we have had to do. It is this that allow us our high salaries and high standard of living, the Industry Minister says.
