Norwegian Authors Nominated for IMPAC-award

Norwegian authors Kjersti Skomsvold, Roy Jacobsen and Thomas Espedal have been nominated for the prestigious European IMPAC book award.

The IMPAC Dublin Literary Award is known as the most acknowledged literature award after the Nobel Price. Norwegian author Per Petterson was awarded the price for his novel Out Stealing Horses in 2007, and has since had great success abroad.

The nominees for next year's award were announced on Monday, and a total of 154 books were on the so-called "long list."

Kjersti Annesdatter Skomsvold was nominated for her award-winning first novel Jo fortere jeg går, jo mindre er jeg (The Faster I Walk, The Smaller I Am). In Norway she has recently published her second book, Monstermenneske, which received great reviews, and has already been sold to the U.S., Denmark and the U.K.

Roy Jacobsen is nominated for Vidunderbarn (Wonder Child), and has previously been nominated for the IMPAC, but on the so-called "short-list."

Thomas Espedal is nominated for the English version of his novel Imot Kunsten (Against Art).

The short-list will be presented on April 9, 2013.
