Norway to reopen Iraqi embassy

The Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs plans to reopen Norway’s embassy in the Iraqi capital of Baghdad, according to Aftenposten. The planned embassy reopening angers both Britain and the United States, which have led the campaign to maintain sanctions against Iraq as punishment for its continuing program to develop weapons of mass destruction. The plan was confirmed shortly after Norway was chosen to lead the United Nations Security Council’s Sanctions Committee on Iraq.
