Norway still rated top country to live in

Norway has again been rated as the best country in the world to live in on the United Nations Human Development Index. Australia is again second on the UNDP ranking list. New Zealand is third.

The United States is ranked fourth and Ireland fifth. Of the Nordic countries, Sweden is ranked 9th, Finland 16th, Iceland 17th and Denmark 19th.

The ranking is based on life expectancy, level of education, and gross national product (GNP) per inhabitant.

Between 1980 and 2010 Norway's HDI rose by 0.6% annually from 0.788 to 0.938 today, which gives the country a rank of 1 out of 169 countries with comparable data.
