Norway met EU on airspace co-operation

The Ministry of Transport and Communications met with the EU on the establishment of joint functional airspace block.

As a step in the formal process of establishing a North European Functional Airspace Block (NEFAB), a consultation meeting was held in Brussels on 6th February 2012. Interested bodies in EU member states were notified of the NEFAB initiative. The meeting was arranged by the EU Commission.

In advance of the consultation meeting in the EU Commission, the NEFAB states sent out information on the initiative and the process. The documents can be read here: http://ec.europa.eu/transport/air/single_european_sky/functional_airspace_blocks_en.htm

The EU Commission and interested parties will send any comments they may have to the NEFAB states by mid-March 2012.

The participating countries in NEFAB plan a formal signing ceremony of the multi-national agreement in the spring of 2012.
