Norway: Ford's electric car hub

The Norwegian electric car producer Think Nordic, located in Aurskog, has been given a vote of confidence by its parent company, Ford Motor Co., despite disappointing sales results in 2000. According to Teknisk Ukeblad, the American automotive giant has decided to assign global production and marketing responsibility for the Think City vehicle to Think Nordic’s managing director, Per A. Lilleng, whose Norwegian staff members are considered to be Ford’s top electric-car specialists. Only 400 Think City cars were sold in 2000, compared with the 1,000 forecast. The Think trademark is also being used on a golfcart-type vehicle, called Think Neighbor, which is designed for short-distance driving, and on an electric bicycle called Think Bike.
