NOP-HS Grant for Nordic Scientific Journals – call opens in August

NOP-HS supports Nordic journals of the highest scientific quality in the field of humanities and social sciences. The grant may be awarded to both open access and fee-based journals. Open access journals will however be prioritized. NOP-HS aims to introduce stricter requirements for open access publishing in future calls.

To be eligible to apply for the grant, the journal must have a broad Nordic editorial board and a Nordic (or international) orientation. The editorial board should be comprised of scientific experts and be representative of the journal’s scientific domain. Locally oriented journals are not financed by the NOP-HS. The journal must also have a review system with external quality control.

The grant is awarded for one or three years, starting 1 January 2016.

The grant covers costs directly related to the journal, for example, printing or e-publishing, distribution and language revision. You may even apply for a lump-sum of up to 90.000 SEK to cover increased costs related to transfer to electronic publishing or to Open Access publishing.

The grant does not cover salary costs for editors or members of the editorial staff, but may cover costs for editorial secretaries up to 60.000 SEK. Funding from NOP-HS may not be used to build a higher profit or to cover budgeted loss.

The call for proposals will open on August 11, and close on September 22.

For more detailed information, see the call for proposals, which will be launched on the Swedish Research Council’s website. You apply by submitting an application through the Swedish Research Council’s grant application and management system Prisma. An application prerequisite is that your higher educational institution has been approved as an administrating organization and created an organization account in Prisma.
