New online service for endorsements

The Norwegian Maritime Authority has created a new online service for handling certificate endorsements which is designed to save shipping companies time and resources.

Previously, seafarers were obliged to meet in person at a Norwegian embassy or consulate to have their national certificates endorsed for service on Norwegian flagged vessels. Shipping companies have requested a more practical and cost-effective solution in dialogue with the NMA.

The Norwegian Maritime Authority has now responded by introducing a new online service launched this week. It is no longer necessary to use a Norwegian embassy or Norwegian consulate to apply for endorsement for non-Norwegian sea-farers on Norwegian flagged vessels. Applications may be filled in online by the manning agent or the shipping company, resulting in a CRA (Certificate of Receipt of Application) being issued automatically by the system.

See more information on the Norwegian Maritime Authority's  web pages.
