"I would like to congratulate the three communities on having an exciting and important mission. The sea is one of the most important areas Norway will pursue in the future. The new catapult centers will help new solutions from these industries to be tested, developed and transferred to other industries, " says Torbjørn Røe Isaksen.

A Good Day for us

Bergen Technology Transfer, NCE Maritime Clean Tech and ÅKP Blue Innovation Arena are included in the Norwegian catapult scheme. They are commissioned to establish national catapult centers that will help businesses get faster from idea to product and commercialisation.

The Katapult Centers offer specialized testing facilities, expertise and networking. The target group is especially small and medium-sized businesses across the country, but also larger companies and research and development environments.

Our Centers:

  • Ocean Innovation The Norwegian Catapult Center in Bergen will be a national center focusing on the development of new solutions for growth and green conversion within the marine industries. The Katapult Center will test new solutions in, for example, petroleum, food production and renewable energy. It is established by Bergen Technology Transfer (BTO) in close cooperation with several major actors and industry clusters.
  • Sustainable Maritime Norwegian Catapult Center at Stord will be a national center within different types of energy systems such as battery, fuel cells and hybrid systems for the port industry and related industry. They are based on the "green shift", an area where they have already established considerable competence and capacity. Behind the initiative is the cluster NCE Maritime Clean Tech, in collaboration with several leading research communities.
